What is the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)?
The ACVVS program matches volunteers with seniors over 65 years old to provide an opportunity for social connection through regular visits both at home and in residences.
This is a free service to help seniors maintain social connection.
Our volunteers will visit you regularly once a week or every other week to chat, have tea, play a board game, take a short walk, or accompany you in your favorite activities.
Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve the quality of life and help older people feel less isolated.
how does it work?
UNITED recruits, trains, and supports volunteer visitors. We match volunteers with older individuals receiving aged care and provide support for the relationships that form between the volunteers and the people they visit. United undertakes screening processes (including police checks) on all volunteers prior to commencing.
Volunteers will visit individuals at least 20 times per year. These visits can be:
- one-on-one or group visits to residential aged care homes
- one-on-one visits to people in the community receiving Home Care Packages.
How can I receive volunteer visits?
We are a community, not-for-profit organization that puts you first! Our volunteers are not only highly skilled and enthusiastic but are also well-suited to comprehend your language and cultural requirements. We will match you with a regular visitor who aligns with your interests, hobbies, and background.
